A Saturday in many ways to forget, starting with the prohibitive conditions in which we played with a strong wind and a pouring freezing rain that gave no respite throughout the match. Without taking anything away from the opponents, a very solid team with an experienced and fast midfield that put us in trouble right from the start. Their defense was undoubtedly the weakest department but to our demerit we continued to close in midfield without widening the game on the side strips where in the few opportunities that we had, Jonty Roberts, John Budden and Max White proved dangerous. A lot of work then for our goalkeeper Edward Black who avoided a much higher score. Our defense reinforced by seniors Edward Roberts and Dave Morley more than once has been found out open to four-on-two situations.
Our midfielders Alex Young, Ben White and Matt Sabben-Clare have done their best against opponents who have been able to spin the ball quickly towards their forwards.
Probably with different climatic conditions the result would have been more balanced, however the team will already be able to react from the next match.
