Petersfield travelled away to 3rd place Fareham where a tough match was anticipated by all.

Petersfield began the game by pinning the opposition in their own half and marking the opposition tightly to try gain an advantage.
Petersfield were first to break the deadlock after a penalty corner routine saw Martin strike the ball home for a 1-0 lead.
Petersfield with the lead were then immediately put under pressure by Fareham where the midfield battle looked to be the key factor of the match.
Fareham forced a foul inside the circle after over loading the defence and gained a penalty corner. Fareham found the equaliser after the ball was flicked across the goal into the net.
With the goal, Fareham pushed even harder than before, putting Petersfield on the defensive, the defence survived the handful of attacks on goal and found a second goal via an individual effort from Edwards who picked the ball up on the right wing and sprinted past the oppositions defence and pushed the ball under the oncoming goalkeeper for a 2-1 lead at half time.

After the break Petersfield found themselves chasing the ball as Fareham planned there attack. Fareham soon found a break through into the circle which saw a penalty corner awarded along with defender Edney receiving a green card for his challenge on the Fareham striker.
Fareham converted there penalty corner to level the game of play. With the new hope within the Fareham team they continued to drive hard at the Petersfield defence which saw J. Atkinson pick up a green card for a lunging challenge on the ball carrier and Edney sent to the side line for a second offence forcing a yellow card.
Petersfield down to 10 men swiftly changed formation and continued to battle with Fareham over all areas of the pitch and were saved by the Goalkeeper on a handful of occasions after he saved all 1v1 chances. After surviving the 1 man advantage Petersfield returned to full strength and pushed on towards the Fareham goal with the support of the whole side. The risky tactic paid off as Martin converted the penalty corner routine to take the lead once more.
Fareham on the back foot got caught out with the Petersfield winger Edwards intercepting a loose pass before being fouled in the circle after a winding attacking run.
Grinstead's drag flick was denied on the line by a defender foot resulting in an immediate penalty flick being awarded. Grinstead calmly stepped up to the spot and slipped the ball tightly into the bottom left corner, extending the lead to 4-2 with 5 minutes remaining.
Petersfield continued to hold their nerve and play out the remaining time and steal a 4-2 victory in a game that could of gone either way.
Petersfield host City of Portsmouth @ Bedales School, 15:00PB on Saturday 24th whee a further 3 points will keep the title challenge alive.
