Hind Out Till December

Petersfield host fellow promotion side Fareham 5’s in their first contest within Hampshire Division 3. Petersfield gave debut to George Hughes-Stanton and Max Rye along with welcoming back Will Atkinson whom has returned after completing his studies. Petersfield got off to a flying start despite Fareham claiming the majority of possession within the first half. Petersfield managed to use their speed and individual skill from the forwards whom gathered 5 goals between Douglas Ramsey (2), Patrick Edwards (1), James Atkinson (1) and George Hughes-Stanton (1) to take the score to 5-0 at the half time whistle.

The second half saw a turn of events, Petersfield now looking the dominate side with Fareham attempting to break the score. Debutant Max Rye provided an outstanding display that proved to be too much for Fareham as zero attacks broke free down the left side. This was seconded by the discipline of the Petersfield defence as no penalty corners were given away. With the second half counting down and Fareham heads sinking as the uphill battle to achieve a level score looked unlikely Petersfield struck and increased the distance with a further 3 goals from Douglas Ramsey (1), Josh Edney (1) and Patrick Edwards (1) taking the lead to 8-0 with 10 minutes to go. Despite the lead Petersfield faced a new challenge of losing a starting player. During a contest for the ball, winger, Henry Hind took a knock from a stick to his wrist which puts him out of action until December.
