PETERSFIELD STILL WINNING

Petersfield after playing against respective promotional sides faced Fleet in their first fixture which they went into completely blind. Petersfield did not know what to expect from the opposition until the game was off in action.

Petersfield took the ball and played possession for the first 10-15 minutes whilst they threw different tactics towards Fleet. Petersfield players began darting runs in all angles to test the oppositions marking skills as well as holding the ball defensively to see how Fleet would set-up defensively. Petersfield began to press the opposition into their own half, creating wave after wave of attack. This forced Fleet to make mistakes, gifting Petersfield with Penalty corners. The hard work from the whole team was rewarded with 3 goals in the first half which saw Edwards (2) and J. Atkinson (1) hit the scoreboard.

The second half saw much of the same from Petersfield, the defence of; Anderson, Thompson, Harding and Phillips saw out any charge forward from Fleet. Petersfield’s link up play in the midfield of; Alder, Edney, Grinstead © and Hughes-Stanton to the attack of; J. Atkinson, Edwards, Elms, Cains and Ramsey was unstoppable. Petersfield were ruthless within the Fleet Circle and rarely missed the target. Petersfield gained a further 3 goals from Hughes- Stanton (1) and Elms (2) however Edwards was sent to the sinbin after a late challenge on the opposition, along with the Fleet player involved due to his actions after the challenge. Fleet replied on the scoreboard during this time after a ball slipped through a crowded goal line. The fixture concluded at 6-1 to Petersfield whom face Swanage & Wareham in their next league fixture.
