PETERSFIELD STEAL POINTS FROM YATELEY

Petersfield missing a handful of key players started the game off pace with the sun causing a glare across there defending half, Yateley capitalised on this early after a penalty corner was converted. Yateley kept the pressure on Petersfield forcing them deep and used this tactic well after many chances went a miss or were cleared with last-ditch tackling from Alder, Anderson, Grinstead & Harding. Petersfield had their fair share of chances at the other end after Edwards, Cains & Harris were denied by the keeper and woodwork. Yateley grabbed a second goal on the counter at the mid-point in the half before Petersfield scored their first goal of the game after some fine individual work from Harris.

The second half saw a slight structure change with Grinstead moving into a defensive role. Within minutes of the restart Petersfield scored an equalising goal from Edwards break through the defence. This aided the heart of the Petersfield defence as attacking play from Yateley was broken down effectively many times, along with the forwards; Cains, Edwards & Harris hassling Yateley’s back line for possession. Yateley stole the lead again after a lightening counter attack from stealing possession from the Petersfield penalty corner. A link up play involving Petersfield forwards Cains, Edwards & Harris saw the scoreboard level again with a deflected goal from Cains. With the game level both teams jeered up and began playing with an increased level of aggression. This saw Petersfield penalised with 3 green cards during the half to Alder, Edney and Anderson. Petersfield took an advantage when Yateley had a man sent to the sinbin as Harris scored a reverse strike which saw Petersfield take the lead for the first time in the game. Yateley at full strength went full attack and secured many penalty corners yet all were dispatched of with excellent clearances from Edney on the post & keeper Ross. Harris netted another goal to complete his hatrick and to extend the lead to 5-3 where Petersfield saw out the remaining time.
