Petersfield Lose Away

Petersfield travelled on a wet windy afternoon to Bournemouth in an encounter that held much anticipation. Petersfield without a handful of players due to illness and injury. The side began their warm up and discussed tactics before the battle cry was unleashed.

Bournemouth looked the more settled side on their home turf. Appearing to be in control with a high percentage of possession and attacks created. Petersfield remained patient, ready to attack and sat poised to pounce when the right moment came. Link up play in the Midfield found a through ball to Grinstead in the circle whom deflected the ball across the Goalkeeper to Harris to finish with ease.
Bournemouth were persistent and found themselves back in control after two penalty corners ended in the Petersfield goal. The heads of the visitor's remained high and after finding their feet, Petersfield looked to balance the game to the point no one knew where the scoreline could be improved. Key saves by Goalkeeper Smith and a goal line clearance from Clay prevented Bournemouth extending the lead, much to their frustration. Petersfield added to their emotion after Harris skillfully passed the home sides line of defence before shipping the ball to net, allowing a even score to be taken into the half time break.

Petersfield bolstered the midfield for the second half which appeared to have a positive affect for the visiting side. Possession stats increased and the ball was stolen from the opposition more frequently, preventing any dangerous attacks to form. The Petersfield defenders however had a lapse and soon found themselves picking the ball out of the goal twice in succession. Bournemouth, now with the edge of momentum on their side continued to press the Petersfield side and we're lucky to escape Petersfield's grasp as drag flicks from Harris, hoping to add to his brace were stopped on the line. Petersfield continued to press hard in search of goal yet came to no joy. Bournemouth hit the nail in the coffin when gifted with a penalty Flick as the last touch of the game, which was completed with pin point accuracy, out of reach of Smith, sending Petersfield he without a point.

Petersfield will look to bounce back to winning ways in their next fixture against the Isle of Wight at home.
