With 22 goals scored - a penalty shoot out won and only 2 goals conceded these amazing hockey players enthralled the crowds with their epic skills!

An invited squad embarked on a journey to see how far they could get at the Fareham Challenge Trophy tournament.

Drawn in Pool 2 the Petersfield team went into battle winning all their games in spectacular fashion and not conceding any goals!

The Stats!!

Haslemere 2-0
Trojans 6-0
Trojans 5-0
City of Portsmouth 4-0
Fareham 4-0

With Hulme, Pattinson and Rowland providing a robust strong core, it enabled the rest of the team to hone their skills and move around the pitch like a well oiled machine. Along with Hulme, Pattinson and Rowland, goals also came from T Young and Scott-Plummer. The strong defence provided by Morley proved too much for the opposition as she was assisted in her defensive quest by Wiggington. In the mid field the action was provided by Stratton-Brown and E Young .

Winning the Pool, Petersfield then joined the rest of the teams in a D dance off. It was great fun watching the teams dance the conga, strut their stuff and moon walk with the other players. Back to business Petersfield met Romsey in the semi final. An early goal from Petersfield was soon equalised by a strong Romsey side, the team continued to battle away but the game finished 1-1. This led to a nail biting penalty shoot out. Up first, Hulme confidently took his shot from the halfway line - in it trickled, then an equaliser by Romsey. Up stepped Rowland cool as cucumber - goal! followed by a miss from Romsey. Then it was T Youngs turn, one look at the ball a glance at the goal and while his mother hid her face he pushed the ball the directly into the goal!! A final against Bournemouth beckoned!

The excited children ran onto the pitch for the last match of the day - the final!! Despite a valiant effort which saw Petersfield attack after attack they reached half time nil - nil. In the second half a Bournemouth break gave them a goal. A second goal on target was spectacularly saved by Pattison who sprinted the length of the pitch to push the ball into touch. This heroic act gave Pattinson a special mention at the medals ceremony.

Silver medals for a brilliant team who enjoyed a fantastic day of hockey!
