On a bright and sunny day a selected team from the U10 boys arrived at Haslemere to enjoy a morning of hockey against the best players from Hampshire's hockey teams.
Being boys the first 10 minutes of the pre-match build up was spent searching for gum shields and having to "borrow" from other team mates!! Due to a depleted team (sickness - not related to gum shield sharing) S. Hulme was shipped in to help out from the U8's.
Petersfield faced Fleet and Ewshot in the first game, unfortunately the team had not really woken up by this point and gave the game away. This ended with a frustrated manager suggesting a suger boost was required for the next game!
Fuelled with energy and a reminder that they can actually play hockey - on came the Petersfield U10 boys we are used to watching. Exceptional goal keeping by Young, epic defending by the rock Hegan, brilliant passing by Shine, S. Hulme and Pruden and some high octane charges by A. Hulme and Mckenzie gave Petersfield the edge and they won their next 2 games against Andover and Fareham (the eventual runners up). The final game was lost but only by some minor mistakes.
Sadly the boys missed out on the next round due to goal difference - however we all enjoyed a morning of exciting hockey from our talented boys from the U10's section.
With special thanks to Young for being our brilliant goalie!
