Fantastic game today. Everyone played so well and worked so hard it was disappointing not come away with a win or at least a draw. The strong defensive trio of Karen, Sam and Chloe were solid at the back giving everyone confidence to push forward. Midfield Alice, Holly and Anna covered every inch of the pitch, driving attacks and yet always tracking back. Fizz and Alex in the new ‘screen’ position giving an extra depth to our game which they struggled with. Fizz was her usual composed self, breaking up passes and controlling the rhythm of the game. Daisy and Eva were amazing up front, running, crossing and weaving and we were unlucky not to go ahead in the first half. It was a slightly comedic game with the oppo turning up in the same blue kit as us, umpires not being able to see, orange bibs being donned, umpires possibly struggling to work out whose foot ? and lots and lots of rain. A double rainbow to start the second half was a good sign and we were soon rewarded with a fantastic goal from Eva. Sadly, against the run of play they scored 2 soft goals and took the win. Despite the score line and the rain, it was a fun match and everyone was fantastic. Lots spread in the player of the match votes which shows how well everyone played. Special mentions to fizz and Holly in midfield but this weeks POM goes to Alice for her sheer determination and driving runs into the D ???
