The ladies 1st team continue their success with a 5-2 win at home against Aldershot and Fareham 3's, which keeps them top of the table

Petersfield Ladies played against Aldershot and Farnham 3’s at home on Saturday. Aldershot and Farnham started strong and stole possession from Petersfield quickly from the push back. Pushing them back into their half of the pitch and breaking the circle within the first few minutes. A&F pinned Petersfield back and made it difficult for the home team to feed the ball out from attacking 16-yard hits. An attack down the left wing whipped along the base line and was deflected to an un-marked forward in-front of goal. Aldershot opened the score board.
Petersfield were quick to put the pressure back on the opposition and an attack up the right wing by Hegan led to a short corner. S.Bardoe injected to Wilson who fired it back to the baseline and a sneaky deflection by S.Bardoe behind the keepers right leg pulled the scores level.
The game was well balanced and full of competition from both teams breaking each other’s half way lines. Llewelyn, Briggs and Todd held firm as a back three, leaving Jones in goal with not much to do.
Petersfield kept the majority of possession and worked well down both left and right channels attacking into A&F’s D. It wasn’t long before another goal came from quick moving ball switching between the Leach sisters and finding J.Bardoe poised in-front of the goal. The last goal of the half came from R.Leach taking Petersfield 3-1 up in the first half.

The second half was equally as competitive as the first. Petersfield kept up the attack and a short corner caused by the ball hitting the defender’s foot in the D gave Petersfield an opportunity to open the scoring in the second half. S.Bardoe injected to Eames on left slip who fired the ball at goal and beat the keeper on the near-post. As Petersfield’s goal difference grew, so did the confidence in the players to take on the defence and work the ball around. This did allow a few holes to open in the home-sides structure as players carried the ball. A&F found themselves on the front foot with a break away attack and last-ditch defending lead to a short corner against Petersfield. Despite strong defensive running from Petersfield, Aldershot managed to play the ball across the D and around the keeper the slot the ball inside the right post. After the re-start S.Bardoe found, once again in the mix up-front and a with a quick first time strike managed to seal the game for Petersfield a few minutes before the end of play. Petersfield won 5-2 against a competitive side and take some positive play into their first away game next week.
