There's always a brief period at the start of an away game where the girls take a while to settle but after 5 minutes the teams started to put together some lovely passages of play, passing up and down the lines and switching sides to get some space.
On the 17th minute Rosie took the ball up on the left, crossed it into the D where Ella had a touch towards the goal and Daisy, ready on the post, was able to slot in the first goal.
It was great to see all the forward players keen to take shots as soon as they entered the D as we've been focussing on recently in training. And where we didn't have a clear shot, we were often able to a secure penalty corner (Georgie in particular had a great time playing the ball onto the defenders' feet).
The first half score remained at 1:0 and 15 minutes into the second half another short corner saw Alice able to take a good strong hit at goal which deflected off an Andover player into the net.
As well as exciting moments in attack, Petersfield also played a strong solid defence. Tamsin saved some goals and Grace made a cracking save on the line that had looked to be a certain Andover goal as they swarmed the goal line.
The final whistle went with a great 2:0 victory for Petersfield.
Players of the match chosen by Andover were Alice and Emily, but the whole team had a great game and should feel very pleased with themselves. There was real determination amongst the girls to gain and keep possession with some very gritty, positive performances - the teamwork was a pleasure to watch from the sidelines.
