21 goal thriller!

From the very start of this match it was clear to see that this was going to be a very entertaining, fast-moving match. Both teams were eager for goals and just ten minutes into the match Wong scored the first, after great pressure from Petersfield, which had seen an earlier attempt from Thompson go just wide.

However, Gosport were quick to reply and just two minutes later had equalised! The pace of this first half was relentless, with both teams matching each other both in their desire for goals and their attempts at defending their goal. Gosport scored a second, before further pressure from the forwards including Knowles and Thompson gave Petersfield a short corner, from which Thompson finally scored Petersfield’s second, after Jones had passed it back in accurately.

And still the goals kept coming in this half, first from Cleminson, before two more crept in from Gosport, taking the score to 4-3 in their favour. However, this half had not seen the last of the goal scoring, with Jones and Wong scoring, before Jones scored again, taking it to 6-4 for Petersfield just on half time.

The second half was as exciting as the first to watch, with all the Petersfield team playing their part. Roberts, Schofield and Symes proved effective at keeping the Gosport attack at bay, whilst Francis, Hall and Slynn helped to keep the attack moving towards the Gosport goal.

Gosport managed a further three goals, but it was Petersfield who dominated this half, with goals coming from Thompson and Cleminson, who claimed a further three each, a third from Jones and the final Petersfield goal from Knowles, taking the final score to 14-7. It had been a great game to watch and the players all agreed it had been equally as great a game in which to play. Well done, Petersfield!
