The U16s first league game away to Alton was played under blue skies and bright sunshine. With 3 players pulling out of the game this week, it meant the team went to the match with a squad of 10.
Alton started strongly and took a tired looking Petersfield by surprise with 2 well executed goals. The defensive line up lead by Hulme with Prince and Ulph had to battle hard to keep Alton out of the D.
The midfield Bhattercharjee, Bamber, Walton and Rowell worked hard to keep the strong Alton forwards at bay and send the ball up to the forward Young duo.
A great sequence of passes around the Alton D gave E.Young the scoring opportunity, a goal from excellent team work. Our 2nd goal came from a short corner, set pieces that have been practised in training. Pushed out by T. Young and very well executed by Hulme.
Goalie Roberts put in some excellent saves over the course of the game.
Some fantastic moments of hockey skills and a good basis to work on at training.
