With centreback Hulme out with a broken wrist, the coaches moved midfielder Bamber into defence to play alongside defence regular Maughan-Taylor. U14 regulars Cullen, Cropley and goalie had their U16 debuts.
The match commenced with the pace of a 100m sprint, Petersfield packed the midfield with some sensational stick skills displayed by Stewart and Walton. Portsmouth fielded a team of very strong hitters, but the Petersfield squad kept their heads and continued to press.
Some spectacular saves by Roberts kept the Portsmouth strikers at bay.
The first half finished 0-0.
It was only a matter of time before the forwards managed to break the Portsmouth defence and Stewart scored. It didn't take long for Portsmouth to equal the score.
With fire in their belly Petersfield continued to attack the Portsmouth D again, Stewart found the chance and scored his second goal.
The match finished 2-1 to Petersfield, an exhilarating display of hockey from both sides.
