The U16s have a squad of over 18 to call from, however for another week the available U16s were so few, U14s were called up to play. With 2 last minute pull outs, Petersfield had to field team of 10.
The conditions were miserable, torrid rain for the full 70 mins made the game difficult to play for both sides. Despite the weather conditions, Petersfield worked hard to take the game to Chichester. Some brilliant passing out from the back by Maugham-Taylor. Quick pace down the wings by E. Young and Rowell. Oatley stayed strong in the attacking role with the reliable skills of Bamber and Walton covering the midfield. The U14 players Cullen and Cropley covered a more defensive role today and held their own against some strong Chi players. The closest Petersfield got to scoring came from a dynamic attack by T. Young. Man of the Match goes to Roberts who saved numerous Chi attacks in the D, sprinting off his line, diving to the corners and kicking the loose balls away.
All in all a fantastic display of hockey in the most miserable of conditions. The bedraggled team were congratulated by the umpires for their stoic performance today.
