Home vs Bournemouth

Following a heavy defeat last week Petersfield started against Bournemouth with only 9 players, but were soon on the attack with a short corner after 5 minutes and first goal of the season after 10 minutes taken well by Zoe Simmonds.

Pressure followed from Bournemouth as they looked to make the extra numbers count, but Laurent Preston was solid in defence all game repelling the attacking balls as they came into the Petersfield area. It was Petersfield's turn to attack 22 mins with a excellent run to the right baseline from Izzy Wiles on her debut pulling to the back post for Zoe to score her second goal of the game.

Bournemouth again looked to attack and hit the post on 31 minutes before finally getting their own breakthrough just before half time, when the ball hit Carys Pearson's glove before spinning back into the goal.

Petersfield were up to 10 players in the second half with the inclusion of Evie Owsnett.

Izzy grew in confidence in the 2nd half and combined a number of times with Delyth Powell to cut through the Bournemouth defence. Petersfield's third goal came from such a run where Izzy went past two Bournemouth defenders before rounding the goal keeper and scoring.

Bournemouth were not lying down and came back strong with another period of attacking possession. Their second goal came in the middle of the half from a well struck short corner to the bottom left hand corner of the goal.

With 10 minutes to go Izzy broke through the defence again and drew the keeper before passing to Sheena Hulme to score Petersfield's fourth goal of the game.

Bournemouth pushed their numbers forward and had their own 2 on 1 in the dying seconds, only for the pass to go wide.

A solid game from Petersfield all round with an excellent debut from Izzy. First goals and first win of the season moves Petersfield off the bottom of the table.
