The 2XI headed out to a late afternoon push back, full of hope after successfully winning the away fixture to Portsmouth at the start of the season. Portsmouth attacked from the first whistle and straight into the D, good work from the determined defenders to push them back out. Midfielder Thompson received and drove the ball back up the field where she passed to Parker who skimmed the goal, a narrow miss. Unfortunately, the Portsmouth defence worked hard to get the ball back into our D where a hard hit scored the first goal. With the temperature dropping rapidly Petersfield repeatedly held possession but were unable to reach a goal before the whistle blew. Lowe put in some great saves but unfortunately Portsmouth made the most of deflections, meaning Portsmouth were 2-0 up by the end of the first half. Again, a strong start from Portsmouth, scoring after 4 minutes, catching Petersfield’s defence off guard. A quick response from D Day down the line crossing to Simmons who took a shot but was saved by the skilled goalie. Petersfield continued attacking throughout the second half, with great play from Keech & Hulme, but no conversion came. Nearing the last few minutes of the match Portsmouth managed to gain another goal, ending the match 4-0.
