The 2 XI travelled to Alton this Saturday for a very windy game! The home fixture in October saw a 7-2 defeat against a very well rehearsed Alton team, the women were looking for a better result this time. Alton started strong, testing Petersfield's back line and creating multiple short corner opportunities for themselves, 2 of which they converted with strong hits from the top of the D. Amesbury, Day, Jones & Llewelyn working hard to fend off the attacks until a rhythm was found, injection of new legs from Donovan helped to main their form. A few opportunities for Petersfield to attack came towards the second half, but the sun was against them an no goal was found. Alton showed their skill by scoring a beautifully placed field goal just before the half time whistle. The team regrouped at half time and went out strong, dominating possession and play for the first quarter of the second half, Greenaway, Silvester & Thompson pressing high and maintaining possession in the attaching 23. Creative runs from Trewin & Thomas began to pay off, entering the D and winning some attacking corners for the team. Finally the work paid off and a goal came for Petersfield from a well worked run & Cross from Trewin! Tired legs saw Petersfield start to struggle to maintain concentration and another 2 well worked goals came from Alton, despite Payne's numerous other saves. A late attack from Petersfield saw a penalty flick awarded, Simmonds stepped up to the spot but the talented keeper insured no goal was scored before the final whistle. Final score 5 - 1.
