Petersfield sent a strong squad of U12 boys to the toughest tournament of the hockey calander, Hampshire Hockey's In2Hockey tournament.
Petersfield were placed in Pool A, with Alton, Romsey and Portsmouth.
Petersfield started their campaign lackluster and were soon chasing a Alton lead, with only 8 minutes to claw back a goal Petersfield dominated but could not get the ball at the back of the net. The next game was a comfortable win against Romsey, Portsmouth didnt turn up to the tournament so Petersfield ended the pool stage in 2nd place and into the Quarter finals.
The Quarters found Petersfield facing local rivals Havant who had topped Pool B. The evenly matched teams battled their way through the 12 minutes in a nailbiting match, in the nick of time Petersfield broke and scored sending Petersfield to the semi finals.
In the semis Petersfield faced a very strong Tojans side, Trojans dominated the play and score a number of goals which took them to the final which they won. Petersfield finished their tournament playing the bronze medal match against Fareham. Fareham took the lead but Petersfield kept on the attack and with moments to spare scored a goal taking the match to dreaded penalties. Under pressure Petersfield's penality takers and goalie clinched the win , all credit to Fareham for being such great players and good sports.
All in all it was a fantastic display of hockey by the Petersfield squad; Bamber, Cook (GK), Cullen, Maughan-Taylor, Young, Rowland & Walton. With special thanks to our coaches Steve Hulme and Ollie Bamber.
