Petersfield 2s off the mark

Played on the lovely Highfields newly laid turf in the autumn sunshine, Andover 3s proved to be yet another tough opposition.
With pressure at both ends, Ian Pruden opened the scoring with a fine worked short corner.
Andover were persistent, and despite the several saves from in-form keeper Broadmeadow they crept ahead to end the first half 1:2.
With some changes at half time Petersfield closed out gaps in the middle, with Hulme and McDermot working tirelessly to retain possession. With Henry Plewes moving to the right, Petersfield were able to open up a channel down the right wing from skilful Nick Budden, through Henry to the intelligent Dan Cleife. This provided more chances for Petersfield with Steve Hulme skilfully levelling the score with 20 mins to play.
The last 20 were played out intensely end to end. Andover crept ahead, Pruden levelled again from a well worked penalty corner. Again, Andover crept ahead putting the score at 3:4.
With ten minutes to go it was all Petersfield. Every pass carefully considered, simple hockey wins out, and the Cleife, Pruden, Hulme combination proved too much for Andover. Simple, intelligent, short passing around players, proved to be the key with Steve Hulme taking two more precisely placed goal to complete his hat-trick. Final score 5:4 the whole team showed real desire to win, good job!
