Roscoe Davey, star player

Another thumping home win with a hatrick of hatricks plus more.

A repeat of the last home game, this time against Andover. With a clash of colours Petersfield lent the away team their ‘cursed’ red shirts and then proceeded to put eleven goals past them. Cursed indeed!

Another amazing spring day at Bedales, Petersfield started the game strongly with several chances but it took about 10 minutes to get properly going. We played with a high press, Luke Hawkins sweeping at the half way line to keep Andover at bay and with our usual Ian Brockwell having an extra line of defence we were able to push our wing back forward. This allowed for the majority of play to be in the Andover half and it paid dividends.

Roscoe Davey put in a ‘star player’ performance, he set up the first goal hooking the ball as it was about to go off, with great awareness pulling it back across the D for Lee Harris to slot in.
Steve Hulme swept in the second from a short corner and Nick Budden scored a high strike for the 3rd.
Roscoe then got onto the score sheet himself slotting in a cross field pass inside the bottom left post. Then came probably the goal of the season from Nick Budden. Nick received the ball at the edge of area and fired the ball into the top right corner. His first goal was good but this one was special.
Andover had very little to offer with Sam Howe and Jack Symes intercepting the ball on the wings, Luke Hawkins preventing attacks through the middle and Ian Brockwell sweeping up what little got through.
Petersfield dominated the first half 5:0.

The second half was much the same, the first goal coming from Lee Harris diving onto a rocket pass from Steve Hulme. Jacob Housden provided the assist for Steve to get his second. Jacob turning over possession and passing across the goal for Steve to slot in.
After a breather Roscoe was reintroduced into the game and he got his second with a lovely touch over the keeper from close range.

Four players now on a hatrick. Steve Hulme was the first to get his, coming from a saved Lee Harris drag flick the ball rolled out to Hulme who gently rolled it back into the goal.
Next up Roscoe hooked the ball into the goal to complete his hatrick. And finally Nick Budden scored his hatrick leaving Lee Harris on a brace. Another 11:0 rout moving Peterfield to 8th in the table, and safety.
Charlie Weller had little to do in goal, but for the one or two chances Andover he made himself big and kept the clean sheet.

There were excellent performances all over the field, but Roscoe Davey shone out. He was a constant menace to the Andover defence.

Well done team.

Next week we are at home again, against the University of Southampton. We are looking to correct a dismal performance on the away fixture.
