Equalizer grabbed on short corner in the last minute

The match, played on the HMS Sultan ground due to the unavailability of the Gosport ground due to resurfacing works, had started well for the 3s who had taken the lead in the eighth minute with skipper Roberto deflecting Leo Cropley's 's pass into the net. For the rest of the first half, Petersfield exerted great pressure, collecting short corners and goal attempts that were narrowly missed or saved by an attentive goalkeeper. Just before the end of the first half Gosport equalized with a prolonged action in Petersfield's D. In the second half midfielders Chris Bott, Gavin Marshall and Dan Heapy, kept pushing forward and collecting more short corners. On a rare attack, Gosport managed to get a short corner which was cleared off the line by the foot of David Longland and therefore causing the penalty then converted by Gosport. The 3s with Henry Bott and Leo Cropley kept pressing on the wings and when the hope of equalizing seemed to have vanished, a last short corner with time expired, was converted into the net by Gavin Marshall following a short rebound from the goalkeeper. Much regret for the 3s as this draw saw their hopes of grabbing third place disappear.
