Petersfield 3s took on Alton 4 at home on a saturday afternoon with good conditions. On high spirits with the first win completed the game began well. Petersfield had a strong attacking side, with Mark Broadmeadow stepping into goal, Ed Cropley, Olly Morley and the two Fishers made a number of well worked attacks down the left and right wings. Passing was good, flow was good and all seemed well.
However, in the middle of the first half a series of mistakes at the back let in three goals (short corners as well as goals from open play) into the back of the net, despite the best efforts of Mark Broadmeadow. The Alton side made use of their strong and well practiced drills and came out on top. Even with an advantage some signs of frustration were visible and the team did very well to manage around this. Mark Blackmore spent a great deal of the game connecting passes and David Longland made a number of breaks down the right wing as fast counterattacks. Likewise Olly Morley and Bruno made good progress and managed to get the ball into attacking spots for Jack Hanauer and Ed upfront. But despite best efforts the back board eluded Petersfield.
Special mentions to go to Paul Fisher, who played his role very well marking key players out of the game. Man of the match to go to Thomas Law, who spent all his game moving and put in a real shift with his legs. Thank you Thomas. Well played all, and sadly a 3-0 loss for Petersfield.
